Sunday, February 19: "Embracing the Fullness of Life"
Kelly Asprooth-Jackson, ministerial student
We live in a world in which both grief and joy are indelible parts. In our society, and often in our own lives, these two universal elements of living can be seen as opposites. But perhaps another view, one that allows celebration to exist side-by-side with lamentation, both equally real and equally a part of being human, could open up new avenues for understanding our own feelings, and those of our neighbors and friends.
Sunday, February 26
Join us for an Intergenerational service on the theme of "Religious Education".

Looking for Something Fun to do TONIGHT?
Try the UUP Spiritual Film Club!
Tonight's movie "Walkabout" will be shown at the Ellsworth's (not the Strange's) at 7:30pm. There will be cookies and hot chocolate. Bring a friend!
"Walkabout"
The film tells the story of two young children are stranded in the Australian outback and forced to cope on their own. While out in the wilderness, they meet an Aborigine on "walkabout": a ritualistic banishment from his tribe.

Community Garden
UUP now has a plot in the Petaluma community garden. We will be growing vegetables and other edibles to donate to a local shelter. If you would like to be involved in this new project please email Rebecca Black at rebeblack@yahoo.com.
******************************************************************
Hospitality Duty:
Please plan to sign up once per quarter, (or per season if it's easier to remember that way), to help us ensure that we are able to continue to provide bagels and refreshments before the service. To make the process easier, we're including a link for the hospitality calender in this weekly email. Once you've signed up, you'll receive instructions via email. If you have questions, please contact Elaine Ellsworth, the chair of the Membership & Hospitality Committee. Thanks for helping us create a warm and welcoming atmosphere at UUP.

UUP Annual Memorial Day Retreat
All-Congregational Annual Memorial Day Retreat! Yes, its coming up to that time of year again! Please put this on your calendars: May 26th through 29th at Four Springs Retreat Center for a long rejuvenating weekend of community, cheer, relaxation and connection! You know if you've been before you want to be there this year, our fourth, and if you haven't been yet ask someone about it--last year we had 29 adults and 16 kids so you can ask almost anyone you see at UUP)!
For general information look for a flyer at the information table, or e-mail T Hathaway ( elisabethhathaway at sbcglobal dot net).
TO VOLUNTEER TO BE ON THE PLANNING COMMITTEE also contact T Hathaway; your participation at this level is much appreciated. :)
UU Camp Registration
Did you know that there are UU camps that you could attend at the
beautiful Mendocino Woodlands State Park, about 3 and a half hours
drive northwest from Petaluma? These camps are attended by UU's from all over Northern California, including several families in our own
UUP. For more information, check out the website at
http://www.unitariancamps.org. Registration is open now for Spring Volunteer Weekend and opens March 1 for Family Camp.
The Abel family has attended these camps for over 20 years. (Ask Lara how this will be her 21st year at camp this summer considering that she
is only 20 years old.) Lara is also one of the Deans of WUUKY, a
weeklong camp of UU youth at the Woodlands in July.
